Francis J. "Frank" Scoblick Obituary
Francis "Frank" John Scoblick, of Johnson City, New York, formerly of Jessup, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 84.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Donnelly Scoblick; his former wife, Estrella Caridad Guzman Scoblick; his sister, Anne Shirley; his brother, Edward "Teddy" Scoblick; and his infant brother, Joseph.
He is survived by his children: Jessica Anne Scoblick of New York, NY; Amanda Grace Scoblick of Tampa, FL; and Francis Richard Scopelliti (Jocelyn) of Atlantic Beach, FL. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Tyler Jesse Greenhagen, Townes Vanessa Scopelliti, Costello Francis Scopelliti, and Margo Estrella Scopelliti; his sisters, Grace Johnson (Harold) of Clarks Summit, PA, and Virginia Rickard (Louis) of Elmhurst, PA; his brother, John Scoblick (Kathryn) of Austin, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank served honorably in the United States Army from August 14, 1962, to August 31, 1965, and was stationed with the 184th Army Security Agency (ASA) Company in Berlin, Germany.
He earned an associate degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University and went on to build a long and respected career in technology. He worked for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation in Johnson City, NY, and later as a computer network engineer at Binghamton University.
A passionate and lifelong ham radio enthusiast, Frank spent countless hours building radios and antennas and competing in contests. Known by his call sign, N2HR, he formed lasting friendships with fellow operators across the globe—many of whom he knew very well, even if they never met face-to-face.
Frank loved tinkering around and building computers, radios, fishing lures, flies, and random gadgets. His siblings often joked that although they grew up in the same home, they didn't truly "meet" Frank until he was a teenager—when he finally emerged from the mechanical workshop he had built in his bedroom.
He was known for his ever-present smile, his curiosity, and his willingness to strike up a conversation with anyone—whether at the German club, the grocery store, or along the river while fishing. Among his many interests, Frank had a fondness for Ferraris, Porsches, and loved Penn State football.
Frank also had a few endearing quirks, including his habit of waking around 2 a.m. to prepare and enjoy a plate of pasta with butter, milk, and imported Italian cheese before heading back to bed—just one of the many ways he lived life on his own terms.
He cherished his friendships, including close ties with friends from the Iranian-American community in Binghamton and the Cuban-American community in Palm Springs, Florida, where he kept a winter home.
A lifelong learner, Frank took pride in studying and speaking several languages, including Latin, Italian, Spanish, and German.
Above all, Frank will be remembered for his independence, his warmth, his intellect, and his deep appreciation for the relationships that enriched his life.

Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
