Charles "Charlie" Georgia, 82, of Binghamton, New York, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Binghamton, NY. Charlie was born on August 24, 1943, in Binghamton, New York. He grew up on Doubleday Street, where he attended North High School and excelled at basketball. He continued his education at Broome College, where he met his wife, Karen, and earned recognition as a Junior All-American basketball player. The couple married before moving to Texas, where Charlie attended Lamar University, playing Division I basketball. They later returned to Binghamton, where they made their home and raised their family. Charlie spent more than 30 years working at IBM, building a long and dedicated career starting out as a computer operator, and then became a long-time manager. He was also active in the community, volunteering for many years at the BC Open golf tournament and serving on the board of the Family and Children's Society. In order to spend more time with his children, Charlie became a certified official for local club swim meets, a role that allowed him to stay closely involved in their lives and activities. Charlie and Karen shared a deep love for Raquette Lake and the Adirondacks, which they considered their second home. Many of their happiest times were spent there enjoying boating, skiing, and the full rhythm of both summer and winter life. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend known for his excellent sense of humor, quick wit, and genuine care for those around him. He and Karen had many close life-long friends who shared in their life adventures. Charlie is survived by his children, Damon Georgia and Heath Georgia; his daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Mitchell Georgia and Elizabeth McCane Georgia; his grandchildren, Alexis Georgia, Evan Georgia, Hunter Georgia, and Logan Georgia; and his siblings, Rich Georgia, Steve Georgia, Connie Portuando, and Chip Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Georgia; his father, Richard "Dick" Georgia; his mother, Betty Georgia; his sister, Prudence Georgia; and his brother, Mark Georgia.
