Norman William "Bill" Councilman, age 95, of Johnson City, New York, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025 at UHS Medical Center in Johnson City New York. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend. Bill lived a long and honorable life defined by service, dedication, and a deep love for those around him. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret (Malone), his loving daughter Sandra Hancock, her husband Randy and grandsons Zachary and Tyler whose lives and accomplishments brightened his days. He is survived by his sister Patricia and George Kandle. Bill is also survived by his brother in law James and Susan Malone. Brother in law Joseph Malone and sister in law Mary Morrissey. Also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, William (Billy) and Robert (Bob), and by his sister Nancy Clough. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954, during the Korean conflict, carrying with him a lifelong sense of duty and integrity. After his military service, he enjoyed a 33-year career with IBM, earning membership in the Quarter Century Club and forming lasting friendships. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 1645 in Binghamton, where he valued the fellowship of fellow veterans. Bill will be remembered for his generosity, warm heart, and unmistakable Irish humor, which brought laughter and comfort to everyone he met. A passionate Dallas Cowboys fan for many years, Bill rarely missed a game, cheering faithfully and enthusiastically season after season. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff and Dr. Mandapalli on 4NW. Their care and compassion were outstanding to Bill and his family. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City, Thursday December 4, 2025 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at St. James Church, Thursday from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, Friday December 5, 2025 at 10 a.m.
