Carol Marie Pothier of Binghamton, New York passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025. She was pre-deceased by her loving parents Bernard (Eddie) Pothier and Margie Scully Pothier.
Carol graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Recreational Therapy. Carol spent her entire professional career, more than 30 years, as a recreational therapist at Binghamton Psychiatric Center. Carol remained active in her retirement serving on numerous committees at SUNY Cortland and Lourdes Women's Auxiliary.
Carol loved her summers at Silver Lake. The stories from her younger days at her Silver Lake cottage will long be remembered by her many friends. She also cherished her annual trips to Nantucket especially her Thanksgiving visits.
Carol and her friend, Nancy Boyd Goff, wish to thank all the Bridgewater Nursing Home Floor 4B staff for their kindness and care. Carol greatly appreciated all the staff.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11am on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, New York. Friends may call at the church from 10 am 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. in the spring.
Carol was a dedicated supporter of the students in SUNY Cortland's Recreation Curriculum. Donations in her name can be made to: Metcalf Endowment, Cortland College Foundation, P.O. Box 2000, Cortland, NY 13045.
