Obituary of John Giorgio, Jr.

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Giorgio, Jr., 91, of Vestal, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 9, 2025, one week shy of his 92nd birthday. John was a devote Catholic and lived, breathed and walked his faith. He was deeply devoted to prayer and an absolute Christian to all who crossed his path. His mission in life was to spread God's word and love. John always had an irresistible smile on his face despite many health issues. He was born in Binghamton, NY and in his younger years played basketball for St. John's CYO. He graduated from Binghamton North High School and served 4 years in the US Air Force. During that time, he was the recipient of the Airman of the Year Award. John then served 18 years as Personnel Sergeant and member of the Army National Guard Unit stationed at the Binghamton Armory. Oh, how extremely proud he was of his military service! He was an avid golfer and looked forward to his annual trips to Lancaster with his golf buddies in addition to his weekly lunch dates with his brothers, cousins, and friends. He also enjoyed sports, especially the NY Yankees, Giants and Knicks and his hobby as a "dabbling entrepreneur". John is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Carol Ann, his loving daughter, Michele Marie and cherished granddaughter, Johnna Anne. He is also survived by his sister, Carmella Kephart (Jim), brother-in-law Joseph A. Marino, Jr., sister-in-law Nicoletta Giorgio, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Loretta and John Giorgio, Sr., his sister Lena Wilbur (Ray) and brothers Neil, Nick (Helen), Paul (Marlyn), Thomas Giorgio and brother-in-law Jerry Kephart. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Brittni of Guthrie-Lourdes Hospice for her devotion to John for 21 months. Also, Hospice companions Mary Ann and Terry and all our dear friends and family who provided respite care from time to time. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Bowling for compassionately overseeing John's care for 45 years. To all those "angels" at Mercy House who tended to John and our family during his final days, there are no words to express our deepest everlasting gratitude. We are so beyond blessed to have this home for the terminally ill in our community. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, NY celebrated by Rev. James Serowik. Mass will be live-streamed at www.stvbs.org . Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends at J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, NY on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions in John's memory be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
