Obituary of Joan M. Romeo

Joan Marie (Scolere) Romeo born on December 31, 1943, 81 years old, in Scranton, PA, was sent to her eternal home on September 20, 2025, in Binghamton, NY. Daughter of Vincent Scolere and Frances Scolere. Joan was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. Joan is survived by her loving husband Angelo Romeo of 57 years; her children David Romeo (son) and Annette Bonacci (wife), Anthony (Tony) Romeo (son) and Beatriz Romeo (wife), Damian Romeo (son), Theresa Mills (daughter) and Brandon Prince (husband), and Adam Romeo (son); her granddaughter Veronica Romeo. She is also survived by her brothers William (Bill) Scolere and Jean Scolere; Joseph Scolere and Maureen Scolere; and her sister Kay Moon. She was survived by several nieces and nephews. Joan was a member of Saints John and Andrew Church and spent most of her time as a homemaker. She volunteered at St. John's Catholic School watching kids at recess on the playground and in their classrooms. She worked at Sam's Club as a food demonstrator. Joan helped to put smiles on older people's faces as a volunteer through AARP. She would dress up as "Trixie" the clown with her Matilda monkey puppet and visited nursing homes to cheer people up. She liked doing crafts and enjoyed making ribbon wreaths in her spare time. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Joan Romeo and family. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Friday September 26, 2025 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
