I will always cherish the fun I had with you as my golf partner and the tournaments we played in together. You were a great friend and golf partner.
My deepest condolences to the Gallagher and Martin families.

Rookie FF Gallagher was assigned to climb a ladder to rescue a trapped cat in a tree a good 4 stories high. Brother Marty chose not to don full turnout gear for the ascent, thinking the cat would desire rescue and upon reaching out and grabbing the cat he gets himself into the claw fight of his life 40 ft in the air With the whole neighborhood watching, he manages to maintain a grip on the terrified cat fighting to get away from him until about halfway down the ladder when he is absolutely forced to let go.
He drops the cat which free falls about 20 feet. It is able to land safely and scamper away. All's well that ends well for both cat and "rescurer" but for the rest of the shift, he endures such comments as " You look a little catatonic" "Hey Marty, Cat got your tongue?", Oh, were you taking a catnap" etc.etc.

I was so appreciative of Marty taking the lead on a family scholarship for a student of Seton Catholic Central. I’m sure it was a lot more work than he let on.
He was simply a good guy who looked out for his family! He was a good athlete, a good friend and a cousin who will be tremendously missed.
Our prayers to the family ( especially Aunt Jo )….
