Raymond John Kettle died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Ray was born April 23, 1931 in Binghamton, New York. He was one of seven siblings born to Walter and Clara Kettle. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean War. He worked for the Binghamton Press for many years, bringing his skill and attention to detail to his work. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine, his parents, and siblings Gerald Kettle, Patricia Kettle, Bud Kettle, and Katherine Donovan. He is survived by his sisters, Babe Donnelly and Sue Carnes. The pride and joy of his life were his seven children: Jerry and (Patsy) Kettle of Endwell, Pam and (George) Tietjen of Long Island, Ray and (Pam) Kettle of Binghamton, Patty and (Erik) Elzinga of Long Island, David and (Annie) Kettle of Binghamton, Katie and (Todd) Mercier of Denver and Mark Kettle of Pennsylvania. His fifteen grandchildren, Kaitlin, Chelsea, Nicholas, Mollie, Rachael, Nicole, Megan, Connor, Patrick, Cullen, Malachy, Maddie, Mitchell, Michael, Amanda and great-grandchildren, Carter, Reed, George, Hazel, Violet, Valentina and Cassian, each held a special place in his heart. Ray was a loving father who laughed easily and often. He was an incredibly kind man, known for his warmth, quick wit and humor. We will miss you, Dad. We would like to give special thanks to the wonderfully supportive staff at Good Shepherd-Fairview Home.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Church, Binghamton Friday at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Church, 282 Chenango Street, Binghamton Friday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Ray may be made to the Mercy House, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY, 13760.
