Jeanne G. Murphy, 96, of Vestal, New York, died peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025.


Born in Binghamton, New York, Jeanne was the daughter of Francis and Lawrence Gaige. She graduated with the Class of 1946 from Binghamton Central High School and went on to become a registered nurse after completing her training at Wilson Nursing School. She spent her career as a pediatric nurse, devoted to the care and well-being of children.


A woman of deep faith, Jeanne was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, where she was active in her prayer group. She also served as former president of the Cystic Fibrosis Chapter of Poughkeepsie, New York, dedicating herself to advocacy and support for others.


She had a lifelong love of dogs, especially her cherished companion Gigi, who brought her daily joy and comfort.


Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, John Robert Murphy, and by her dear cousin, Joanne Riley, with whom she shared a lifelong sisterhood.


She is survived by her sons, Thomas R. Murphy (Nancy) and John L. Murphy (Andrea); her grandchildren Andrew, Justin, Kaytlin, James, Sean, and Vanessa (children of Thomas) and Drew and David (children of John); and several great-grandchildren.


She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn Hudy; her sister-in-law Arlene Longcoy and husband Tom Longcoy; and by several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.


Jeanne will be remembered for her warmth, faith, and unwavering love for her family and community.


A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Thursday July 24. 2025 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
