Obituary of Stella L. Barvinchak

We are sad to announce the passing of Stella at age 100 1/2 years old on July 9, 2025 at Mercy House. Stella was predeceased by her husband, Paul who passed in 2019 as well as Paul (Bucky) her grandson (2010) and her brother Angelo (1974). She is survived by her children, Marise (Ralph), Paul R., and Dana (Patricia). Her dear surviving grandchildren, Dana (Tracy), Carly, Ellie (Lynette), and Andre. She is leaving behind as well her great grandchildren, Christian (Maddie), Ryan, Michael, Jack, Colin, Gigi, Mica, and Avry. She even got to hold her great, great granddaughter, Jessame in March. She was born in Italy and emigrated here when 6 years old with her parents, Bartholomew and Elvira Stirpe. She was proud of her Italian heritage and cooking abilities. Her sauce was legendary, and would show her love through her cooking. She loved the Sunday dinners she shared with her nephews and nieces, Fr. Frank, Tom, Loretta, & Louise as well as her 2 sons. In her later years, when unable to go to mass, another nephew, John would bring her communion every Sunday morning. She loved her family and friends, and our family was so lucky to have so many cousins who supported our care for our mother over the past few years. Stella, our mother was the pillar of her family and a force to be reckoned with. We expect she and my Dad are now reunited in heaven looking down on us with love. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court Street, Binghamton, Monday July 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Stella may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tiers, 212 N.
