Please share a memory of Philip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Philip Ross Vilello (88) of Binghamton, NY was born on May 4,1936 in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of the late Anthony and Florence Vilello. Known to many as Mr. V, Phillip passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 with his wife, Madeline Vilello by his side. He married Madeline Frisina of Meadville, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1963. They were married for almost 62 years. We are at peace as he is no longer suffering. He was a kind and gentle man with a dry sense of humor that would bring down rooms with laughter. Philip graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He then went on to complete his graduate work at Syracuse University. Mr. Vilello was a beloved Special Education teacher at Chenango Bridge Elementary School for 25 years. He was also a dedicated coach. He walked to work every day of his career. He would say he was caught in traffic when he was late. He played football with all of the students every day during recess. He would play any sport with the kids. Philip was known for his incredible patience with his own students and his hilarious antics with his colleagues and friends. Mr. Vilello was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Mets. He was also a devoted Notre Dame fan. He was happiest at home in sweats relaxing in his chair. He enjoyed volunteering at Chow and Lourdes Hospital after retiring. He was loved by his coworkers when he volunteered. He made people at the hospital laugh daily. He is survived by his wife, Madeline Vilello of Binghamton, NY, son Michael Vilello of Prosper, Texas, son Vincent Vilello of Atlanta, GA, daughter in law Cynthia Vilello of Prosper, TX, granddaughters Amanda Vilello and Sarah Vilello of Prosper, TX, son in law Lance Williams of Atlanta, GA, and many loving cousins from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and Ridgway, Pennsylvania. He had an abundance of friends in Binghamton who were also just like family. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Sports Change Lives. The Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation is committed to keeping under-resource kids, "In the Game!"
