It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Jonathan Colgan, a truly remarkable person who touched the lives of so many. Jonny brought so much joy and laughter into our lives. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love for his friends, and his dedication to his family. Jonny loved some good music, all things sports, campfires, and enjoyed spending time in the Adirondack mountains. Jonny was a 21 yearlong employee with Broome Developmental center. He was a proud Wildcat to this day graduating from Johnson City in 2003 where he excelled as an athlete. 5 varsity letters on the wrestling team, 4 years on varsity football team, 2 years on the varsity track team, and 2 years of varsity baseball. Earning a school record at the time of his graduation with 13 varsity letters and Earning 2 state team championships for the 1999 and 2003 wrestling's team. He was inducted into the Johnson City wildcat Hall of fame for the 2003 legacy wrestling team class of 2014. Jon was brought into this life by his loving parents, James and Rosemary Colgan on May 18th, 1984. He is predeceased by his hero; his mother Rosemary Colgan. He is survived by his father James Colgan, Erin Colgan and his children; Brennan and Meryl Colgan. He leaves behind his brothers, Tim (Michelle) Colgan, David (Carrie) Colgan, Jimmy (Yvonne) Colgan. Cousins, Pat, Debbie, Alex, and Nicholas Palmer. Jonny loved his nieces and nephews unconditionally, Zach, Isaiah, Olivia, Sophia, Patrick, Connor, Mason, and Evan Colgan. He leaves behind many dear Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday at 12 noon. Rev. Corey S. VanKuren will officiate. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
