William F. "Buzz" Walling Jr. Obituary

William F. "Buzz" Walling, Jr. passed away March 22, 2025 at age 74. Buzz was a lifelong resident of Johnson City, NY, graduating from JCHS in 1969. He was a proud supporter of JC schools, especially the music department, and a former member of the JC School Board. He is fondly remembered by many as 'King of the Concession Stand,' as he ran the stand to support the JC Music Booster Club at numerous types of events, even after his daughters graduated. Buzz spent his summers on the St. Lawrence River in Clayton, NY with his river family. He was also an active member of the Broome County Ancient Order of Hibernians. Buzz was very proud of his three girls and provided unwavering support in everything they did, including school activities, music concerts and musicals, CYO sports, and church activities at Blessed Sacrament. He was known as a kind, generous, friendly, and selfless person to all who knew him.


Buzz is predeceased by his parents William and Dolores (Reynolds) and stillborn son Brian Francis. Buzz is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara (McCormick); daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen Walling, Maureen and David Moore, Jr., and Heather and Nicholas Vavalle; grandchildren, David, Eleanor, Jeanmarie, and Nina; siblings, Jim (Honora), John (Agnes), Robert (Sylvia), Mark (Carol), Cathy (Gary) Barker, Mary (Hank Belcher), Tom, and Franco (Jacki); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and River family members.


A Funeral Mass will be offered at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, Saturday March 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. Buzz's family will receive friends and loved ones at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home 141 Main Street Binghamton on Friday March 28, 2025 from 5-7PM.


In lieu of flowers, Buzz's family requests donations in his name to the Broome County Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH Corporation, 148 Main St., Binghamton, NY 13905) or Johnson City Dollars for Scholars.
