Please share a memory of Pamela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pamela (Manley) Brayton, 60, passed away unexpectedly on March 18th, 2025. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony V. (Butch) Manley Jr, her infant brother, Timothy Manley; and maternal grandparents, Elwood and Elizabeth (Williams) Kimball; and paternal grandparents, Thomas F. and Margaret (Burnett) Manley. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Anthony V. and Kay Manley Sr., Endicott, N.Y.; her mother and stepfather, Susan and Johnson Burrows, Greene, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Suzanne Manley, Endwell, N.Y.; niece, Lydia Manley, Endwell, N.Y.; best friend of 45 years Janet (Parker) Crawford, Chenango Bridge, N.Y.; also, several aunts, uncles and cousins. There are many non-blood friends and relatives that referred to her with titles such as "Auntie Pam." Too many to mention. Pam attended Greene Central High School and graduated from Chenango Forks Central High School (Class of 1982), where she was a solid student and had a distinguished sports career as a softball catcher and held many records that have just recently fallen. She also was a competitive tennis and basketball player who loved the spirit of fierce competition, and she carried this passion with her throughout her life, including into her college and professional careers. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Binghamton University and a Master of Business Administration at the College of St. Rose. Pam continued to pursue a professional career in accounting and finance holding many positions of increasing leadership. Pam's current and highest professional accomplishment was serving as Vice President, Treasurer and Director of Finance at FM Howell & Company in Elmira, N.Y. the past 11 years. Always striving to make an impact professionally, in 2016 Pam was elected and served on the FM Howell & Company Board of Directors. She was also Treasurer for Howell Liberatore & Associates and served on their Board of Directors since 2015. She also served on the Board of Directors for the industry wide Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) from 2017 through 2021. Other contributions to the PPC were as chairperson for the Benchmarking Committee and a member of the PPC Women's Leadership Council. In addition to being a member of the Elmira City Club, she also was on the club's Board of Managers. From 2017 to 2021, Pam also served on the Board of Elmira Downtown Development. She lived her life wholly and to its fullest, where she always had some endeavor at hand. She loved traveling the world and catching NFL football and MLB Baseball games across the United States. As an avid N.Y. Yankees fan, she rarely missed a game and often traveled to Yankees games bringing along friends and family. She was passionate about being part of her community and giving back what she could. Pam was always up for a great adventure. She would travel the U.S. chasing tornadoes and other storms to photograph in the most remote places and roughing it for weeks at a time. She chased clear skies across seven states in under 24 hours to photograph the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. She worked hard over the decades to exhibit such mastery over photography, and she left behind so many stunning works. Pam was an extraordinary woman of faith, and her biggest and brightest passions by far were her family and the many friends she made throughout life. She was a daughter who made her parents proud and was a steadfast sibling who was heavily involved in her brother's family's lives. She remained close to her high school friends as well as with the many friends she made along the way. She will be greatly missed by many. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, corner of Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11 a.m. Burial will be Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene in the spring.
