Obituary of Mary L. McGarry

Mary Louise (Brink) McGarry was born December 5, 1935, and died March 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Burke Brink and Robert O. Brink, her sister Elizabeth Warner, brother-in-law Harry Warner, brothers and sisters-in-law Frank and Jean McGarry, Robert J. and Louise McGarry, John and Barbara McGarry, sister-in-law Lucille McGarry, and son Daniel. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas W. McGarry, son Thomas R. and Jennifer McGarry (Islip Terrace, NY), son John F. McGarry (Binghamton, NY), daughters Kathryn McGarry (New York, NY) and Margaret McGarry (Binghamton, NY), son Robert B. McGarry (Los Angeles, CA), 11 grandchildren: Shane, James, Lauren, Jack and Megan (Islip Terrace, NY); Thomas and Mary Louise (Binghamton, NY); Samuel, Alannah, Raquel and Johan (Ithaca, NY), also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Lou attended Binghamton Cental High School, earned a BS degree from Georgetown University, and obtained an MS from the University of Scranton. She worked in health care for 40 years. She was a Registered Nurse for 27 years at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. She then worked in hospital administration for 13 years as the Executive Assistant to the President of United Health Services in Binghamton, NY. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, where she served as a Trustee and Eucharistic Minister for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Health Services Foundation, St. Francis of Assisi Church, or the charity of your choice. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Chenango Street, Binghamton, Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.
