Q: What will you never forget about Mary?
A: I met MaryLou in January 1986 as I joined UHS as and Administrative Fellow from Xavier University. She was Chief of Staff to the CEO, Jerry Vasile, who took me on as a resident for a year. MaryLou instantly took me under her wing and was my professional guide, confidant, and teacher. She showed me much warmth and support as a young woman entering professional ranks. Her wisdom and kindness go beyond. In many ways she served as a mom figure to me as I was launching and she stayed my guardian angel throughout marriage, 3 babies, and spreading my wings to go to Dallas. I will feel her hugs forever. She also shared her beautiful family with us and I've loved following their lives and stories. MaryLou will be greatly missed for her life wisdom and warmth.

To The McGarry Family,
So sorry to hear Mrs. MacGarry’s passing! She and the family will always be in our prayers. We will be missing her contagious smile, wittiness, kindness, and very caring personality. I loved sharing all my prayers and Pilgrimage intentions that always included her. She had been thru a lot and we are now rest assured that she is more comfortable. She will be missed dearly.

Our family lived 2 doors down from the McGarry Family. Many fond memories of Mary & myself talking across the back yards when our kids got into mischief. She was a wonderful neighbor, & always available with a helping hand when needed.
My sympathy to the family, it's never easy to lose a loved one.
Thank you for your friendship over the years,
Erma Stackhouse

Q: How did you meet Mary?
A: On Saturday, August 15, 1987, I made the decision to get engaged to an executive from United Health Services (UHS) at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Binghamton, New York. This significant day coincided with the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church.
Unbeknownst to me, Mary Lou McGarry was seated in the pew in front of me. My plan was to propose to this wonderful lady from UHS during the kiss of peace. When the moment arrived, the bride-to-be said "YES." At that instant, Mary Lou turned around and asked, "Did you just propose?" We confirmed, and thus began a lasting family relationship.
After the church service, Mary Lou and her husband, Tom, invited us to their home for breakfast, welcoming us into their family. Over the years, Mary Lou became a significant presence in our lives, attending our wedding, baptisms, first communions, and various family events. We reciprocated by sharing in the milestones and celebrations of the McGarry family. Mary Lou and Tom were instrumental in helping us find our first home in Vestal, NY, and their guidance was invaluable in turning it into a loving and warm residence.
Mary Lou was blessed with strong values of honesty and integrity. She will always be remembered as a person of FAITH, FAMILY, and FRIENDSHIP.
Mary Lou, thank you for all you have done for our family and the community.

MaryLou taught me to play bridge. We enjoyed many years together in our precious group. I loved her sense of humor - it was a successful game when I made ML (as I called her) laugh hard enough to tear up. She was an excellent player, sharp witted, kind and quiet, her feathers never ruffled. It's hard to believe that the last game of bridge was the last game we'll ever play, but I'll remember her for as long as I play at the bridge tables, and so many other memories, because I knew her all my life. It was an honor.

I met Mary Lou when she worked in the office of the president at UHS. She was a very warm, caring person. Always smiling. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May happy memories carry you through this difficult time.
