Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Sandra Jayne (Rozelle) Welsh on Sunday, February 9, 2025, just five days after celebrating her 87th birthday. Sandy was born on February 4, 1938, and grew up on the Eastside of Binghamton. She graduated from Binghamton North High School with the Class of 1956. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Margaret (McCarthy) Rozelle; her brother, Paul Rozelle; her sister, Sally Zumbach; and her nephew, Todd Zumbach. She is survived by her two children: Kevin (Janet O'Laughlin) of Santa Barbara, CA, and their children, Brenda (Mack Fixler) of Santa Barbara, Matthew (Maria Espinoza) of Okemos, MI, and Colin (Morgan Hill) of Atlanta, GA, and Charleston, SC, along with her cherished great-granddaughter, Catalina, of Okemos; and Kelly Nikcevich (Daniel) of Duluth, MN, and their children, Katherine, Elizabeth of Minneapolis, MN, Emily, Christopher, and Sophie. Sandy is also survived by her siblings: Linda (David Nester) of Goodyear, AZ; Judith Blewett (Pete) of Topsfield, MA; and Gary Rozelle of Margate, FL. She leaves behind five nephews—Mark, Scott, and David Zumbach, and Paul and Peter Rozelle—along with three nieces, Debra Grannan, Mary Rozelle, and Jennifer Blewett, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Sandy took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. She was overjoyed at the birth of her first great-grandchild, Catalina, who brought her immense happiness. She cherished time spent with her family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. As a lifelong resident of Binghamton, she fondly remembered good times with school friends at Cortese Restaurant and the old Red Robin, and in her later years, enjoyed shopping for and with her grandchildren at Tom's Coffee, Cards & Gifts. A devoted member of St. Thomas Parish for over 60 years, Sandy's faith was a guiding force in her life. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday March 14 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sandy's warmth, love, and kindness will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those who knew her. The Mass will be live streamed at www.sta-sp.org
