Obituary of Mary June Cullen

Mary June Cullen 94, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022. Mary was born on September 25, 1927 to George and Kathleen O'Hara Parsons in Binghamton. She graduated from St. Patrick's Academy and later earned her Registered Nursing Degree from St. Mary's in Rochester. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in North Africa where she met her future husband, James Cullen. They married and settled in Binghamton after being stationed in various parts of the U.S. She worked at Binghamton General Hospital before retiring in 1992. Mary was a lifelong member of St. John's Church, a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division II and the American Legion Post 1227. She was also active with the Elks Club. She loved golfing, her Irish heritage and summer times at Quaker Lake. She was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters and all her Boston in-laws. She was also predeceased by her husband James and her grandson Danny. Mary is survived by her children Catherine, James, William (Sue), Thomas, Rick, Dan (Brenda), Anne (Richard) and Mary (Mark); her grandchildren Danielle (Ed), Patrick (Kelly), Christopher (Xandra), Erin, Sean, Ellen and James; great-grandchildren Cullen, Siobhan and Eddie and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mary's memory may be made to Danielle House, 160 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905 or to the Alzheimer's' Association, www.act.alz.org to the ALS foundation www.donate.als.org or donate blood to the American Red Cross.
