Obituary of Robert G. Merritt

Robert G. Merritt, 96, of Windsor, NY left us peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 14th at Willow Point Nursing home. Bob was predeceased by his parents, six siblings and son Gary. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Furch and Debra Shade (Russ), 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also, several nieces and nephews. Bob was a graduate of Windsor High School, a retired IBM employee and a resident of White Birch Lake where he was proud of the 3 homes he built on the lake he helped develop with his brothers Dick and Stan. Bob was also a winter resident of Florida for 20 years, where he enjoyed family and deep sea fishing. In addition to fishing, Bob enjoyed working on his property and watching the bear, deer and turkeys cross his land. Bob was a talented man who could fix or build almost anything. His daughters thank the nurses and staff at Willow Point Nursing Home for the respect and care they gave our Dad during his nearly four years as a resident. A private memorial service will take place for Bob at the convenience of the family.
