Robert A. Kavulich, "Buda," born April 24th 1953, entered into eternal life, peacefully on June 5th 2017 surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Margaret Kavulich (Keppick); father in-law Edward Fendick. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon (Fendick) Kavulich, children Stacy (Steven) Maus of Binghamton, Scott of Johnson City, and Matt of Thornton, Colorado. Grandchildren Jerrad, Taylor and John Maus. Robert is also survived by his brothers Ronald (Ann), Andrew (Linda) Kavulich and sister Barbara Lynch (Jerry) Pilkington; mother-in-law Dorothy Fendick. Brothers in-law James, David (Teresa) and Joseph Fendick and sisters in-law Deborah Raimondi (Bert Adams), Cindy (Jeff) Kliment. Several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City. Bob was 1971 Johnson City High School Graduate. He looked forward to and enjoyed monthly get togethers with classmates at various locales. Bob was a 22 year veteran of the Johnson City Police Department, a graduate of the Criminal Justice Program at Broome Community College, and a graduate of the DEA Narcotics School, served as a Juvenile Detective and Instructor at the JC School Program in the late 80's, and was the Vice President of the Johnson City Police Association in the early 90's. Since retiring in September 1998 as Sergeant, he held security positions at Wegmans of Johnson City and Securitas, manning the front desk of the New York State office building in downtown Binghamton. Bob always came with a story to tell and loved conversing with anyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed golfing the areas many courses including a few in Colorado, attending Chenango Forks Football games and coaching his son's youth soccer teams. The family would like to thank all medical staff at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes and Broome Oncology. We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Maria Berry, FNP; Mary Mancini, RN, BSN; Dr. Joseph Readling, MD for the exceptional care of Robert. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Main Street, Johnson City, Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bob's name can be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
