Obituary of Mary-Clare J. Wahl

Please share a memory of Mary-Clare to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary-Clare (Novak) Wahl, 98 years old, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 20, 2017….a journey she was well prepared for. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, James E. Wahl, her parents Andrew and Clare Novak, her brother Donald Novak and infant son Andrew. She was the very proud mother of her nine children, J. Bradley & Ellen Wahl, Juanita Crabb, Elaina Burdick, Rosemary and Ronald Markoff, Brian Wahl, Dr. Alan and Debra Wahl, Clare Anne and Tony Stenta, Ginny Remza, and Ruth and her late husband Omar Bishr. She is survived by her sister Eileen Meyer, her grandchildren Tony, Scott and Sharon Wahl, Kristen and Sean Walter, Megan and Brian Deno, Colin, Morgan and Shasta Crabb, Virgil Burdick, Tate and Natalie Burdick, Alycia and Michael Senisi, Aaron and Becca Markoff, Alina and Caleb Markum, Emma Wahl, Santino and Meghan Stenta, Arianna Stenta, Ryan and Karee Remza, Jessica Remza and Tim Thayne, and Omar Jr., Adriana and Tarek Bishr. She was a loving great-grandmother to Kaitlin, Joseph and Dylan Wahl, Spencer, Sean and Karson Walter, Brayden and Colleen Deno, Colina Crabb, Jake and Nicole Burdick, Kit Burdick, Kieran, Emary and Riley Senisi, Story Markoff, Gianna Stenta, Xander, Quyn and Harper Remza, Dominic and Giano Lisi and great-great grand daughter Charli Burdick. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Mary-Clare, also affectionately known as Jana, was a legend. She was a deeply devout Christian who was reciting scripture verbatim even on the day she died. She loved to sit in her chair in the kitchen where she had an amazing view of the birds and wildlife. She loved watching the family gatherings, especially the Christmas Eve merrymaking. She loved her photography and recorded life with her camera and blessed her family with photo albums she assembled for each. She enjoyed delivering her "composed" blessings at family gatherings. She loved tending her houseplants and was the go-to house on Halloween, where she looked forward to sharing pizza, cider and her "healthy snack" raisins with the neighborhood children in return for a photo of each. She was also exceptional in her duty of collecting for flowering plants for any bereaved in the neighborhood. She set her own agenda and would not accept anything less. The family is thankful to those who provided exceptional care during her last days. A Funeral Mass will be offered at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Clinton Street Binghamton Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Expressions of sympathy in Mary-Clare's name may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, Tri-State Inc. Chapter, 59 Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
