Obituary of Charles L. Martin

Charles Leo Martin, 92, of Loveland, OH, formerly of Charlotte, NC, and Vestal/Binghamton, NY died on May 25, 2017. He was born in Binghamton, NY to William and Mary Martin on February 19th, 1925. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for IBM Glendale as a Product Safety Engineer transferring to Charlotte, NC in 1984. He retired in 1990 after 43 years of service. He built a cottage on Forest Lake in Pennsylvania. He and his family have spent 62 years enjoying the cottage which provided very special memories for them all. Charles is survived by his wife Rita of 61 years; his daughters Kathleen (Joseph) Byrne, Patricia Martin, Sarah (David) Bixler and 5 grandchildren, Eireann and Meghan Byrne and Martin, Nicholas and Melissa Bixler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road Vestal, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J. A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
