Obituary of Harold Ray Beavan

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold R. Beavan, 84, of Johnson City, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 23, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Bentonville, Arkansas and was a long time delivery driver for Nabisco Corporation. He was predeceased by his parents Milburn and Iola (Perkins), his first wife Sara (Sally Donohue), second wife, Lois (O'Connor) and his brother James. He is survived his children, Sharon of Alexandria, VA; Bryan and Robert (Brenda) of Johnson City; his grandchildren Ian and Erin; his sister-in-law Patricia Donohue of Binghamton. Additionally he is survived by stepsons Randy O'Connor and Craig (Linda) O'Connor of Commack, NY; granddaughters Sheila (Kevin) Kirchner of South Beach, NY; Karen (Hyok) Chang of West Chester, PA; Katie (Fabyan) Smith of Babylon, NY and several great-grandchildren. He had many nieces, nephews and cousins from the Beavan, Donohue and O'Connor families as well as special friends and neighbors. He was an avid gardener, a skilled woodworker and loved attending his grandchildren's many activities. He spent years on the front lines battling the Ackley Ave. squirrels against his garden and his black walnut stash. He enjoyed traveling to visit his many relatives and friends throughout the country (there would always be a good supply of Nabisco cookies to give away). In his later years he was a proponent of Colloidal Silver water treatments. He was an active member of the church and worked with the men's charity group. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Wednesday April 24, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Apalachin United Methodist Church, 303 Pennsylvania Avenue, Apalachin, NY 13732. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Harold's name may be made to the "Brothers of the Cross" P.O. Box 355 Apalachin, NY 13732-0355.
