Obituary of Stanley T. Harlec

Stanley T. Harlec, 71, passed away peacefully, November, 27, 2016 with his wife Gail by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Gail (Van Kuren) Harlec and his daughters Tanya (George) McGuire and Charlene (Brent) Tesla. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Sophie Tesla who he adored and loved spending time with her at her home on Heathen Creek; Grace McGuire who he cherished and loved visiting on McGuire mountain; Abby McGuire who shared his love for cooking and will carry on his fruit salad tradition; and his only grandson Aidan McGuire who he loved celebrating Veterans Day with each year. Stanley was also survived by his siblings Linda (Michael) Herrle, Andy Harlec, Richard (Sue) Harlec, and Robert (Cathy) Harlec. Brother in-laws Emerson Chandler and Rev. Corey Van Kuren; and sister-in law Sharon Van Kuren who also was with Stanley during his final journey. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceasing Stanley was Stanley and Elizabeth Harlec (parents); sister Shirley Chandler, and nephew Dana Chandler. Stanley served in the U.S. Army and was a proud Veteran who served in Vietnam. He worked for 32 years as a transportation manager for Eureka Tent/Johnson Camping. Stanley enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be missed by all his camp friends. Stanley was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City. A special thank you to all the staff, volunteers, Rev. Clarence Rumble and Sr. Joanna from the Mercy House that provided Stash and his family will unconditional love, care, and support during this difficult time. A Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church, Johnson City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Stanley's memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
