Obituary of Matthew J. Murphy

Matthew J. Murphy, 44 of Vestal passed away unexpectedly Sunday October 16, 2016 at his home. He was predeceased by his grandparents Joseph and Loretta McCormick and Thomas and Hazel Murphy. He is survived by his parents Thomas M. and Marianne Murphy; his sisters and brothers, Colleen Murphy Romeo, Kate Murphy, Michael and Wendy Murphy, Daniel and Kelley Murphy, Thomas and Elda Murphy; beloved nieces and nephews, Haley, Morgan, Connor, Danny and Justin; his uncle Kevin McCormick; aunts, Ruth McCormick, Maryann and Gene Rader, Jeanne and George Connors and several cousins. Matt was a graduate of Seton Catholic Central High School Class of 1990. In a family of drummers, he was the best. He was the drummer for local rock band "Yolk" and was a partial owner in a Real Estate and Development Co. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA. The family will receive friends at St. Vincent dePaul Blessed Sacrament Church, Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Matt may be made to New Horizons, 10-42 Mitchell Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903 or Seton Catholic Central High School, 70 Seminary Ave. Binghamton, NY 13905.
