Obituary of Lynn C. Hackett

Lynn C. Hackett, 89 years old, of Chenango Bridge went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Fairview Home where he spent his last three and a half days. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Florence Hackett, his first wife, June LaPoint Hackett, on August 3, 1992; and his sister, Betty Moravan-Roach on Sept. 16, 2010; and his brother-in-law, Michael Zapotocky. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jeanine A. Meagher-Hackett, of Chenango Bridge; son, James L. Hackett (Jerri) of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, of Liverpool, NY; Nicole, of Boston, MA; Taylor & James B. Hackett, of Endwell, NY; daughter, Judy (Ray) Johnson, Endwell, NY; granddaughter, Kerri (Dennis) Murtha; great grandson, Owen Patrick; great granddaughter, Mollie Agnes, of Marlboro, NJ; Lee Alexander (Dr. Jennifer Ross); and great grandson, Benjamin David, of Larchmont, NY. Daughter, Jayne (Bruce) Klinger; and granddaughter, Samantha June, of Sylvania, OH. Sister, Marie (Eugene) Wurzler, of Smyrna, TN; nephews, Dr. Richard (Diane) Wurzler, of FL; Robert & Randall (Holly) Wurzler, of TN. His sister-in-law, Sonnie Zapotocky, of Johnson City, NY; also several cousins. He is also survived by his wife's family, Larry Meagher, of Bolton Landing, NY; David Meagher (Dr. Nuria Perez-Reyes); granddaughter, Araceli Meagher-Reyes, of Fall City, WA; Lynette (Matt) Weintraub; grandsons, Aaron, of Endwell, NY; Ryan, of E. Rochester, NY; Michael, of Silver Spring, MD; Suzanne Welch (Lee Douchkoff), of Westhampton, MA; grandsons, Jeffrey Douchkoff, of MT; David Douchkoff, of MA; and Melinda McNair, of Apalachin, NY. He was a former member of Sarah Jane Johnson Methodist Church in Johnson City for over 60 years where he held many offices, (Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, and member of the Administrative Board.) At the time of his death he was a member of Tabernacle Methodist Church where he and his wife enjoyed going to the Sunday service and meeting with the friendly people after church. He was a former investigator for the NY State Workers Compensation Board & retired as District Claims Manager for Utica National Group. He served as president of the Southern Tier Claims Association. After retirement he was a consultant for the Riverfront Medical Services and Empire Medical Management. Lynn was a member of the Johnson City Unity Lodge #970 F & Am., the Johnson City Elks Lodge #2821, the Binghamton American Legion Post #1645, the Johnson City Lions Club and a life member of the Dav. in Sanford, FL. Lynn was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the US Navy Air Corp. He enjoyed his summer home on White Birch Lake which he built and spent many relaxing summers there. After retirement, he and Jeanine spent winters on the beach on Anna Marie Island in Florida. Lynn also loved to do his own gardening, planting vegetables and flowers. He was loved by all of his family and will be missed. The family wishes to thank Diane and Ruth for the wonderful care given to Lynn and special thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Fairview Home. Funeral Services will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 83 Main St., Binghamton on Tuesday at 10am. Reverend Stephen Heiss will officiate Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7pm. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lynn may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
